Details

The Mackó and MedvésKör are 27 and 63 km circular tours in the Karancs-Medves region (near Salgótarján). They are practically two performance tours that can be completed individually, at any time. The routes follow tourist signs along their entire length. Completion can be verified using the verification (QR) codes placed on the routes. This requires a smartphone and mobile internet access. They can be completed in four ways: on foot, running, by bicycle and e-MTB. The level time varies depending on the method of completion.

The QR code

A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode. We can see it more and more often on posters, newspapers, and advertisements.

QR kód

It can store both numbers and text, but is most often used to store internet addresses (URLs). They can be read by most modern camera phones, but usually require a separate app to be installed on the phone. After reading, you can quickly and easily jump to a website. On my Android phone, I use the free NeoReader: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.gavitec.android&hl=hu

Of course, the codes also work with any other reader.

Mobile internet

With today's "smartphones," accessing the internet is no problem. We can connect to the internet via WIFI, Bluetooth, or the mobile network.

To complete the Mackó and MedvésKör, we need to be able to connect to the internet via the mobile network. For this, we need to subscribe to the service provider. Any minimal package is sufficient because we will use barely a few hundred Kbytes during the tour. Data packages are available for both prepaid and postpaid customers.

If there are several of you and not everyone has a data package, it can be completed in such a way that only one person pays for the subscription and shares it via WIFI. (Android: Internet sharing portable WIFI hotspot setup) The others connect to the sharing via Wifi and then read the code. Before starting, all devices must be registered at the entry.
